Tartaric Crystals in Wine: the "Wine Diamonds" of Quality
Have you ever come across what appear to be white flakes floating in your bottle of wine? Did you assume that this snow-globe appearance somehow meant the wine was flawed or ruined? What you had most likely seen are tartaric crystals, commonly referred to as ?wine diamonds? or Weinstein (?wine stone?) in German speaking countries.
Ruster Ausbruch: the Specialty Dessert Wine from Austria
Ruster Ausbruch is a specialty sweet dessert wine from Austria. In understanding what Ruster Ausbruch is, it is helpful to first look at the name itself: Ruster is pronounced ?rooster?, like the bird, and it simply means that the wine comes from the town of Rust (pronounced roost) in the Burgenland region of Austria. Ausbruch is pronounced ahs-brook, and comes from the German word Ausbrechen, which means to ?break out.

Re: Help Me Choose a Two Reds from this Wine List
I left the list so others could see it in the response. The first question is why you want a red with Vietnamese fusion cuisine. The perfect match will be a sweet German riesling. If one insists on something diferent then a demi-sec Loire chenin blanc or even a gruner veltliner would work. But clearly the top choices are all white.

Re: [rosacea] Dark Chocolate and Flavanoids [was maltodextrin]
I Love the 'wimpy' wines Arbor Mist!! red wine doesn't appeal to me its bitter. but I avoid drinking any alcohol I sometimes pretend to have wine, with grape juice.. im not a huge chocolate fan, unless its dipped in peanut butter! ROFL....that moderation will get you everytime! My downfall too! I love chocolate -- all except white chocolate (which from what I've heard isn't really chocolate) but I could easily give up milk chocolate if I was 'allowed' dark chocolate. As for the wine -- especially red, no temptation there. I prefer sweet German wines.
